”Living stones” that can be found in Romania. They are old sedimentary stones, that “grow” and even move due to several climatic and physical conditions. That is the official explanation, but some believe them to have magic powers, or be extraterrestrial. With that thought in mind, I created a series of sculptures made with rocks from Verona (antique marble pieces). They lay in equilibrium while being kept and protected by an outer layer, a heat molded recycled plastic shell. The aim of this series is to explore the resilience and our capacity to adapt in life. The antique marble represents human history, and the outer shell not only protects them but also works as an enabler of the situation. I have chosen to portray them in a way that reinforces the concept, while generating certain oddity. Consequently, also looking forward to examining how fiction has influenced our collective unconsciousness.
